M-WERC and WERCBench Labs

Midwest Energy Research Consortium (M-WERC) is a nonprofit organization working in the Energy, Power and Controls sectors with the mission of conducting collaborative and transformative energy-related seed research. M-WERC has core mission areas of: Market Research, Talent & Development HUB, WERCBench Labs Accelerator and Technology Innovation.


The WERCBench Labs Accelerator is an entrepreneurial immersive technology program providing auniqueopportunityforstart-ups to interact directly with highlyexperienced professionals and coaches. The businesses go through a 16-week program, meeting weekly, and have accessto unparalleled expertise with our Member Companies in the world of Energy, Power and Controls. The classes offer seasoned instructors and educators, newly-created lab and prototyping facilities,small-scaleproductionequipment and office space for each business. They are each offered a grant of $20,000 and a Royalty Based Financing loan of $20,000.

The WERCBench Labs Accelerator program ends with the businesses pitching at DEMO DAY, and awards are presented for first, second and third place prize. 

New applications for the program are gathered from June through July. Successful candidates are informed in August and the program begins in late September.

2020 brings the start of a new Training & Development HUB to M-WERC. Training specific to the energy, power and controls related jobs.
