Steenbock Library is a Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC), part of a nationwide network of public, state and academic libraries designated by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to disseminate patent and trademark information and support diverse intellectual property needs of the public.

About

Patent librarians at Steenbock Library provide patent and trademark information and searching assistance for the general public and the UW-Madison community. Our services include:

helping with patent and trademark searching
providing guest lectures and other instruction on patents and trademarks to both UW affiliates and community members
discussing general information on patents and trademarks, and the application/registration processes
conducting historical research on older patents/trademarks
locating patent and trademark statistical information
referring to business, legal, and entrepreneurial resources
providing access to resources such as PubEAST and PubWEST, examiner-based patent search systems

Librarians are typically available to assist researchers between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We recommend you make an appointment if you are new to patent/trademark searching or would like in-depth assistance.
