Patent librarians at Steenbock Library provide patent and trademark information and searching assistance for the general public and the UW-Madison community. Our services include:
- helping with patent and trademark searching
- providing guest lectures and other instruction on patents and trademarks to both UW affiliates and community members
- discussing general information on patents and trademarks, and the application/registration processes
- conducting historical research on older patents/trademarks
- locating patent and trademark statistical information
- referring to business, legal, and entrepreneurial resources
- providing access to resources such as PubEAST and PubWEST, examiner-based patent search systems
Librarians are typically available to assist researchers between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We recommend you make an appointment if you are new to patent/trademark searching or would like in-depth assistance.
